Organ health can be enhanced by exercise and good nutrition. It’s estimated that more than 50 million Americans, including children, have Metabolic Syndrome X, an epidemic condition. In 1998 the World Health Organization clinically categorized the condition, calling it Metabolic Syndrome X.
Metabolic Syndrome X is a disease resulting from a sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition. It is characterized by an accumulation of excess fat around the midsection that signals a number of potential risk factors including: heart disease, diabetes and a toxic liver. Having a healthy liver is particularly important because the liver processes all of the food we consume.
Many kids can be seen wearing $200 sneakers. The problem is that they aren’t wearing the shoes for physical activity. Today’s youth are sedentary and spend too much time watching TV and playing video games and eating junk food. Their aspirations of following in their athletic hero’s footsteps are no longer being pursued on playgrounds.
